Our adoption timeline:
(Please keep in mind that every adoption journey is different but this is ours so far!)
March 17, 2007 – Got married
November, 2010 – We began trying to start our family.
September, 2012 – Realizing something wasn’t quite right I requested to my regular doctor to be referred to a specialist who worked with families with possible infertility.
January 2013 – Began seeing a highly reputable reproductive endocrinologist (I was given the diagnosis of Unexplained Infertility..
March 2013 – Confirmed pregnancy with our first child.
April 2013 – Miscarried our first child at 7 weeks.
Continued with fertility treatments.
October 2013 – Confirmed pregnancy followed by a miscarriage.
December 2013 – After thought and prayer we began the process of looking for an adoption agency. (We always wanted to adopt whether we had children biologically or not.)
February 2014 – Attended the adoption orientation at our agency Christian Homes.
April 2014 – Exploratory surgery to determine if I had endometriosis (I did not) due to painful cycles and infertility. (After this surgery we decided that we would no longer go to our reproductive endocrinologist.)
May 2014 – Finished the paperwork required to continue in the adoption process.
June 2014 – Office visit at the main Christian Homes office.
July 2014 – Homestudy completed
August 2014 – Approved by the agency and matched with a birthmother
August 21, 2014 – Birthmother chose to parent.
August 21, 2014 – Our profile went live on the Christian Homes website.
September 24, 2014 – Matched with a birthmother.
September 25, 2014 – Left after work to make the long drive to Texas.
September 26, 2014 – Our initial morning meeting pushed back. Waited. Found out the birthmother chose to parent in the afternoon.
October – second week – Matched with a birthmother.
October – third week – Spoke with the birthmother on the phone. Proceeded with the match.
October 15 – Drove to Texas.
October 16 – Met Birthmother – baby was born – stayed in the hospital.
October 18 – Relinquishment papers presented – birthmother requested parameters that could not be legally provided through adoption. Match failed.
